September 19, 2024 – Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Padel Association (PPA) proudly announces its historic participation in the Asia-Africa Qualifiers for the World Padel Championship, to be held in Kuwait from September 22-27, 2024. This will be the first time the Philippines is represented in an official competition organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP).
The Women’s Team, led by Captain Jessica Agra, includes top athletes Anna Christine Patrimonio, Jessica Lucas, Alessa Marie Belbes, Rovy Conle Castillo, and Michelle Rose Dickson. The Men’s Team, captained by Timothy Alonso, features John Michael Tamayo, Jaybee Buenaventura, Barry James Vicente, Alexander Jr Borela, and Arnel Burden. Their preparation has been intense, with rigorous training sessions at the Manila Padel Club, supported by MartinX Academy.
Guided by coaches Martin Noschese and John Michael Tamayo—the first internationally certified Filipino padel coach—the team is ready to take on the international stage. Their efforts have been made possible through the support of key sponsors, including K-Swiss, Rudy Project, PACE Prehab and Recovery, Philippine Airlines, FILA, Wheyl, 40 Love Collagen Drinks, and m88 Mansion.

In addition, the PPA is excited to announce that Manila will host its first-ever FIP tournament from November 11-17, 2024. This landmark event will offer players the chance to earn international ranking points and is expected to attract top talent from Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe. Hosting this tournament marks a significant leap forward for the growth of padel in the Philippines.
