Rocio Ocampo: The Heart and Soul Behind MomDuty

By: Women’s Fitness Asia

Rocio Ocampo is more than just a mother—she’s a storyteller, an adventurer, and the founder of the inspiring platform, MomDuty.
Born and raised in California, Rocio embodies the beautiful fusion of her Mexican-American heritage and her life’s journey alongside her Filipino-American husband, Nelvine. Married for 18 years, they’ve crafted a life filled with love, creativity, and adventure, raising their 13-year-old twins, Nia and Knox, as the heart of their incredible journey.

A Dream Fulfilled: From Adoption to Motherhood
Rocio’s passion for family stems from her own childhood experiences. Adopted at the age of five by a Caucasian woman, she dreamed of one day creating her own little family. With her husband’s outgoing nature balancing her quiet strength and  as the mother of two compassionate and curious teenagers, she sees that dream realized in ways she could have never imagined. “Being their mom has meant so much to me,” Rocio shares. “They inspire me daily with their kindness and big hearts.”
Everything Rocio does has family at the core. From prioritizing health and running for mental clarity to exploring creativity through storytelling, she has built a foundation that centers on making memories and nurturing connections.

The Birth of MomDuty
What began as a blog dedicated to moms evolved into MomDuty, a family-focused travel platform that documents the Ocampo family’s adventures. Over four years of full-time travel, Rocio, Nelvine, Nia, and Knox created unforgettable moments in over a dozen countries. Whether zip-lining in Costa Rica, hiking in Colombia, bathing elephants in Thailand, or swimming with sea turtles in Hawaii, each experience brought them closer together and deepened their understanding of the world.

“We’ve become more than a family; we’ve become a team,” Rocio says. MomDuty isn’t just a scrapbook of memories; it’s a mission to inspire others to travel, connect, and embrace the messy, beautiful reality of family life.
From Family Scrapbook to Inspirational Platform
As the Ocampos shared their adventures on Instagram, they realized their story resonated deeply with others. This connection inspired the family to branch into long-form content on YouTube, where they could authentically share their journey. Rocio explains, “YouTube gave us a way to connect with our audience on a deeper level—beyond the quick, curated posts of Instagram. It’s where we show who we are, our stories, and what makes us The Ocampo Family.”
MomDuty soon transitioned into a platform that not only documented their travels but also inspired other families to embark on their own adventures. With tips, recommendations, and heartfelt storytelling, Rocio and her family have created a space where others can dream, plan, and connect.
Balancing Motherhood and Creativity
Navigating life as a traveling mom and content creator comes with its joys and challenges. For Rocio, organization and flexibility are key. “The kids’ needs come first,” she says, describing how they integrate schoolwork, routines, and play into their nomadic lifestyle. From field trips to museums to impromptu park days, the Ocampos embrace learning and joy in equal measure.
Behind the scenes, the family works as a team, with Nelvine’s business acumen driving MomDuty’s growth and Rocio balancing creativity with parenting. “It’s not always perfect,” Rocio admits, “but that’s okay. We remind ourselves why we’re doing this—to make memories, share our journey, and inspire others.”

Involving the Kids and Inspiring Connection
The Ocampo twins play an integral role in MomDuty. They brainstorm ideas, appear in vlogs, and contribute their unique perspectives. Rocio and Nelvine prioritize their children’s comfort and privacy, ensuring their involvement feels fun and meaningful. “We’ve had open conversations about sharing our lives,” Rocio explains. “They understand that our content inspires others and documents our family journey, and they’re proud to be a part of it.”
The Future of MomDuty
Rocio’s vision for MomDuty continues to evolve. “At first, it was just about helping moms,” she says. “But now, it’s about inspiring them.” Through stories of balancing parenthood and personal growth, she hopes to create a space where mothers feel empowered and supported.
The Ocampos also dream of expanding their platform into workshops, collaborations, and meaningful products that celebrate the parenting journey. Above all, they remain committed to building a community rooted in connection, authenticity, and shared experiences.
Finding Home in the Philippines
Recently, the family has found a new chapter of their journey in the Philippines. From the pristine beaches to the vibrant festivals, the warmth of Filipino culture has captured their hearts. Settling in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the Ocampos now call it their “home away from home.” They’ve found comfort, connection, and the perfect mix of city energy and community spirit.
A Legacy of Love and Adventure
For Rocio Ocampo, life is an ever-evolving adventure filled with laughter, learning, and love. As she and her family continue to explore the world and share their journey, one thing remains constant: their commitment to making memories, embracing the imperfect, and inspiring others to do the same.
In Rocio’s words, “Imperfect families are what make life perfect.” And through MomDuty, she’s proving that the beauty of family lies not in its perfection, but in its authenticity.
