What are affirmations exactly?
By definition in new age terminology, Affirmation is the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment. It is a statement declared to be true – encouraging a belief that a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.
How can thinking help me improve my mindset and eventually reach my goals?
We know it’s true that your life depends on the quality of your thoughts. What a person imprints on their subconscious mind shall become their reality – it is law. The mind and the body are where ideas are born and great conflicts reside. There’s no escaping the fact that you are what you think – that you can’t change anything if you can’t change your thinking.
When you believe something is impossible, your mind goes to work for you to prove why. But when you believe, really believe, something can be done, your mind goes to work for you and helps you find the ways to do it. Your mind will create a way if you let it.
Imagine your mind as a bank of positive and negative thoughts. When you signal the bank that you are feeling inadequate today, your mind will find all the reasons why you are weak. It will hand you a chain of thoughts and reasons why you will fail this day. But if you signal the bank that you will have a wonderful day today, your mind will demonstrate to you why today is a fine day. Your mind tells you the weather is good. It is a good day to start your work. It is a good day to catch up with some friends. And then it is a good day.
If you release lower-vibrational emotions such as fear, anger, shame, and frustration you are allowing yourself to be open to your potential. Raising to a positive vibration – acceptance, love, joy, and peace, you have the power to change your reality and be the best version of yourself.
Believe it can be done.
Let me share with you some excerpts from the book “The Magic of thinking Big.” Here are suggestions to help you develop the power of belief.
- Think success, don’t think failure. At work, at school, in your home, or when opportunity appears, substitute success thinking for failure thinking. When you face a difficult situation, think, “I’ll win,” not “I’ll probably lose.” Think “I can do it,” never “I can’t.” Let the master thought “I will succeed” dominate your thinking process. Thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success. Thinking failure does the exact opposite.
- Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not supermen. Success does not require super intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn’t based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do.
- Believe Big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success. Remember this, too! Big ideas and big plans are often easier – certainly no more difficult – than small ideas and small plans.
Now, you may be thinking what’s the easiest way to begin strengthening the mind to raise vibration and start believing big. Start with affirmations.
As you begin each day, be mindful and take a second to think about what a privilege it is to be alive. Mornings are important. It is the foundation from which the day is built. That is why we have to be mindful of how we speak to ourselves when we wake up. Positive morning affirmations is one of the simplest and most powerful tools for mental growth.
Make time for yourself in the morning, for some it is taking time to sit quietly or maybe eating a healthy breakfast. Then read your list of affirmations. It’s for you to decide if you will say them out loud, write them down in your journal, or say them in your head while meditating. Be present while repeating to yourself all these positive thoughts – let them imprint on your subconscious mind.
- I am abundant in all good things.
- My mind is a place of abundance and prosperity.
- God is never too late.
- I am fearless because I know that I am supported by the entire universe.
- I am worthy of my dreams.
- I forgive myself and set myself free.
- I am letting go.
- I am loved.
- I am accepting of who I am.
- I am in love with myself and my body.
- I am safe.
- Goodness follows me wherever I go.
- I am a magnet for miracles and blessings.
- My thoughts become my reality.
- The Universe is my limitless supply.
- I will be kind to myself and others today unconditionally.
- I deserve the best and I accept the best.
- I am grateful for all that I have.
You can use this list or pick a few that resonates with you. Feel free to add and write your own. The goal is to fill each morning with positive thoughts.
Making these kinds of perspective shifts takes practice but do not fret! You don’t have to perfect it the first time you try. Just choose a few and see how it goes. What truly counts is to start. It is worth working on and you are worth working on.
“Many of us whip and defeat our desires simply because we concentrate on why we can’t when the only thing worthy of our mental concentration is why we can. ” – David J. Schwartz
