At just eight years old, Jaica’s world was shrouded in darkness. In Cebu City, she was forced into online sexual trafficking—a terrifying reality where innocence was stolen in front of a camera. For a year, she endured unimaginable pain, performing inappropriate acts from midnight until dawn for strangers who saw her suffering as entertainment.
But hope found her.
Through the unwavering efforts of Voice of the Free, Jaica was rescued and brought to the Center of Hope, a safe haven that became the canvas where her healing story would begin to unfold. There, she was not only given shelter and security but also the gift of being seen, heard, and nurtured. She received holistic care—physical, emotional, and spiritual support—and most importantly, the freedom to dream again.
Jaica’s heart gravitated toward art. Through each brushstroke and color, she poured out her pain, her prayers, and eventually, her hope. Art became her safe space—her silent yet powerful voice, telling stories words couldn’t express.
And this March, her artwork will shine as part of All Women’s Run Asia Year 3, a celebration of strength, resilience, and empowerment. Her pieces are more than paintings—they are living testaments to survival and the beauty of second chances.
But Jaica’s story doesn’t end with her art. Last December, she proudly graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. Her dream is to stand in front of children—not as a victim, but as a teacher, a mentor, and a beacon of light for those who have walked similar painful paths.
As her artwork graces the event, it carries with it the message that hope is alive. That from unspeakable darkness, one can rise—not just to survive, but to inspire and transform.
Jaica’s story is a reminder that beyond brokenness, there is healing. Beyond fear, there is courage. And beyond rescue, there is purpose.
At the All Women’s Run Asia Year 3, we celebrate not only women who run — but women who rise.
