In a world where darkness can sometimes overshadow the light, there are stories that shine through with resilience and hope. Wednesday’s story is one of them—a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of healing.
After surviving the trauma of sexual molestation, Wednesday found refuge at Voice of the Free’s Center of Hope, a sanctuary that changed her life in ways she never imagined. Within its walls, she rediscovered a sense of safety, embraced the power of healing interventions, and slowly but surely, found her voice again. No longer living in fear, she learned to stand up for herself and now uses her strength to advocate for the rights of others who have walked a similar path.
Amid her journey of healing, Wednesday found solace in music. Playing the guitar and other instruments became more than just a hobby—it was a source of comfort, a way to express herself beyond words. It is through music that she heals, and now, she extends that healing to others. She finds joy in teaching the other girls at the center how to play, passing on not only the melodies but also the hope that music has given her.
Currently a Grade 11 student under the Humanities and Social Sciences strand, Wednesday dreams of becoming a social worker or a police officer. She aspires to protect and serve others, just as she was protected in her time of need. Her past does not define her; rather, it is her courage, compassion, and love for music that shape her future.
As an AWR Artist, Wednesday’s artwork will be displayed and showcased at the All Women’s Run Asia Year 3—a powerful symbol of hope, strength, and the unbreakable spirit of a survivor. Through her art, music, and advocacy, she continues to inspire, proving that even after the darkest storms, light can emerge, and hope can flourish.
